Hot lava flowing towards the gates of Dresden? We will hike to the remnants of former volcanoes in the area of Tharandt Forest. The unique geotope in the region - the porphyry fan of Mohorn - will be discovered. Why do we find basalt columns and other typical stones here? What is basalt used for and how were the rocks formed? Enjoy the hike guided by an expert and learn more about former volcanism in this area. During our hike along this extensive, unique mixed forest, the correlation between the geology and soil, the climate and the forest will also be explained.
