Hiking on the sea floor
"Hoher Stein" in Dresden-Plauen

Geotop_Hoher Stein.jpg

Enjoy this hike on the seabed in the area of the site "Geotop Hoher Stein". The trail will lead into the forests of Plauenscher Grund via Altcoschütz to the Heidenschanze, an ancient settlement of Bronze age.

We will find traces of a seabed that washed around the rocky cliffs here about 100 million years ago while sharks were swamming around. Ancient creatures are preserved here as fossils in the stones. Today, rare plants and animals such as the otter and the kingfisher live in the protected areas of the Plauensche Grund. Already more than 3000 years ago there used to live people on the Heidenschanze, who left ceramics, jewelry and weapons. More exciting stories and legends make this hike at the gates of Dresden an experience!
